Chicago - The Musical Minneapolis reviews
All That Jazz
"Chicago" is FANtastic! I love everything about the show. Bianca Marroquin (Roxie) is a veteran of 10+ years with the show. She adds her comedic touches here and there to great effect. Bianca knows Fosse like nobody's business. Terra C MacLeod (Velma Kelly) also has done the role for a number of years on tour and on Broadway. I don't know where she finds the energy to do all that she does in the show. She had to do kicks, splits and does so much! I am in awe of her. The rest of the cast is uber-talented. They have to be supertalented to be selected for the tour, during the audition process. C. Newcomer is simply amazing as Mary Sunshine. The singing is simply amazing. If you closed in your eyes, you'd swear you were in an opera. I kind of laugh when some audience members gasp at "the reveal." But C. Newcomer is a consummate performer and singer. Jacob Keith Watson (Amos Hart) lent a youthful exhuberance to his role. The audience clearly rooted to him as his wife did him wrong. John O Hurley was a crowd favorite with his singing and acting. Roz Ryan is a Matron Mama Morton veteran. She is one sassy mama! I'm just in awe of the ensemble. They sing, they dance, they act...they do everything! Upon reading the playbill, I was surprised that Allison McDowell understudies the roles of Roxie Hart AND Velma Kelly. She must be one talented lady to know the ins and outs of both arduous roles. I highly recommend that you see this show if it's in your area,
